MaaS FVG: a new mobility model for Friuli Venezia Giulia

MaaS FVG is one of the first and most innovative Italian experiences of Mobility as a Service: not just an app, but a digital ecosystem that integrates – in a single intuitive and flexible environment – different operators and modes of transport, a new paradigm that redefines people’s mobility habits.

Promoted and supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with funding of 1.7 million euros, as part of the activities in support of GO!2025, the project – in terms of complexity and territorial coverage – is now a reference initiative at national level.

MaaS FVG proposes to offer those who will visit Friuli Venezia Giulia in the coming months an innovative tool for moving around the territory, and in particular the many people who will participate in the initiatives of GO!2025, the great event that made Gorizia and Nova Gorica the European Capital of Culture.

A strategic lever for the evolution of transport in Friuli Venezia Giulia

The MaaS model offers operators and public policies the opportunity to promote a more homogeneous and accessible transport system, capable of generating economic value and concrete benefits for people. MaaS is a strategic lever for the evolution of transport in Friuli Venezia Giulia, because it simplifies access to mobility solutions and promotes more sustainable transport choices. The platform will be open to the participation of all operators in the sector: this will contribute to increasing the overall quality and efficiency of the services offered.

Towards increasingly integrated regional mobility

The MaaS FVG project was born out of a solid and tenacious collaboration between organisations and operators, with the aim of progressively entering people’s mobility habits. Thanks to a single app, it is possible to plan and purchase all types of travel within the region.

Territory

The platform makes it possible to plan and purchase trips and travel in Friuli Venezia Giulia in just a few clicks and at the most convenient rate, also in swipe mode.

Services

Today, glimble FVG integrates the urban and extra-urban services of Tpl Fvg, the maritime services, the regional services of Trenitalia, the car parks of Trieste Airport, the international connections with Nova Gorica, the Opicina tram and the bike sharing services of Trieste.

What’s next

Many other functionalities may be integrated into the app in the future: from dedicated discounts to integration with other operators (taxis, rentals, tourist services, parking, etc.), from subscriptions to infomobility services.

A tool to guide the transformation of transport

In the launch and testing phase of the MaaS FVG project, the University of Trieste will measure the impact of the service on the territory. Download the app and use it for your daily journeys: you will participate in the optimisation of services and contribute to improving the overall efficiency of the system, through data analysis and the intelligent reallocation of resources.

The aim is to make MaaS FVG a tool for guiding the transformation of transport, in a phase in which sustainability and artificial intelligence are redefining people’s travel modes and habits and the very rules of the sector. Strengthening the digital dimension of transport will make it possible to photograph, in greater detail, the demand and mobility habits of the territory, with a view to improving supply in an increasingly integrated manner.
